COURSES
Legis courses are designed to provide participants with concrete tools that they can use in the course of their jobs.
Pedagogical research suggests that people learn a very small amount of what they hear and read; but learn well when they experience something firsthand and learn the most when they present ideas, or teach material, to others. Thus, our courses are designed to minimize the amount of time spent listening to lectures, and to maximize opportunities to engage in learning-by-doing activities. The default course durations are sufficient to enable participants to use the introduced tools and techniques to address country-specific problems.
Unless otherwise noted, all courses are currently available in a workshop format. A workshop can provide a valuable forum within which multi-stakeholder groups can develop and jointly recommend solutions to social problems that have long remained unresolved due to their highly political nature. We also offer courses specialized to the priorities of parliaments and ministries, of communities and local governments, and of civil society. Our evidence-based Participatory Problem-Solving approach constitutes a powerful tool for reframing, and depolarizing, issues. With advanced notice, we can customize most courses reflect your institutional processes and constraints.
We are in the process of translating a large number of our workshops into distance- and blended- learning courses. Please add your name to our mailing list in order to receive updates regarding newly released e-courses and opportunities to engage in ICT-facilitated policy and drafting projects.
